Kitchen, bathroom, closet and laundry as one continuous language. A look behind a project that ran across four rooms and stayed of a piece.
The Obsidian Residence asked for something more demanding than a beautiful kitchen: four rooms that read as one home. Kitchen, bathroom, walk-in closet and laundry, each with its own job, tied together by a single material and detail language.
One palette, four rooms
The through-line is a deep, near-black grain, warmed by brass and balanced against pale stone. Repeating it from the kitchen island to the closet fronts to the vanity is what stops four renovations from feeling like four unrelated decisions.
The unglamorous rooms matter most
It is easy to lavish attention on a kitchen and treat the laundry as an afterthought. We did the opposite. The laundry got the same sealed edges, the same soft-close hardware and the same considered lighting, because those are the rooms that quietly decide whether a home feels finished.
Consistency across rooms is invisible when it works and glaring when it does not. That is where a whole-home project is won.
Delivered over a single programme, the four spaces were designed together, drawn together and installed as one, so the seams between them never show.
